I was gifted this bust with a couple of others and upon returning from NOVA (that really should be another post), I was all inspired to paint something that’s not a commission… something akin to an open canvas. While I had a short break in commissions, I grabbed this bust and started painting it. I really wish I had slowed down long enough to take progress photos because I started painting it with sisal twine (don’t let anyone tell you that expensive brushes are necessary). I used twine, airbrush, cheap-o golden taklon, toothpicks, makeup sponges… really whatever I could grab at the moment. The different tools created a randomness and the result is a translucent looking skin that I really like.
